Art Murillo
Senior Community Outreach Representative
Art Murillo is a Senior Community Outreach Representative for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO). In this capacity, he coordinates a wide array of projects and activities designed to expand and improve METRO’s communication efforts with the Houston community. Murillo also develops and manages relationships with business and community leaders in METRO’s northern service regions, and in Spanish-speaking communities across the Houston region.
Murillo coordinates numerous METRO sponsored projects, including public groundbreaking and ribbon-cutting celebrations. He serves as liaison to METRO consultants for public involvement initiatives pertaining to METRO Solutions and other long-term capital projects.
Murillo serves on the Board of Directors of the Houston Intercontinental Chamber of Commerce, and is an active member of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Greenspoint Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ); and was as a Founding Board member of the East Aldine Improvement District. In 2004, Murillo was elected to the Aldine Independent School District Board of Trustees. He has also served on the Aldine-Greenspoint YMCA Board of Directors, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go-Tejano Committee (Vice-Chair). Murillo was recognized as a “Diversity First Award Winner” by the Texas Diversity Council (2008), and was named Tejano Man of the Year by the Houston Chronicle (2001).
Art Murillo attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Art also obtained a Master in Public Administration degree from Texas State University in San Marcos.
